A competition has been set up by open source community Interactive Knowledge Stack (IKS) which not only offers participants cash prizes but something to put on their IT CVs.
To improve implementation and broaden the reach of the semantic web, IKS is offering over £94,000 for budding developers to come up with new semantically-enriched, user-centric applications.
Existing integrations brought about by the organisation's initiatives include ones used by big names such as Wordpress, Drupal, Nuxeo, Confluence, and Alfresco.
IKS Project's community manager John Pereira, said: "We are hoping that this competition will encourage anyone with experience in web development and app design to explore the very real potential of the semantic web, and we have a world-class team available to work with the winners to help realise their vision."
Organisers are initially looking for ideas and proposals on how to deliver innovative and exciting new user experiences as the first part of the competition, in order to illustrate the true potential of semantic web technology.
