Good news for those looking for jobs in IT – the sector increased the number of staff it took on last month, figures have shown.
According to the Bank of Scotland's Report on Jobs, the number of permanent jobs increased at the strongest rate since August 2007, good news for those on the job hunt.
And the number of temporary worker placements also saw the biggest increase in four months.
While IT and computing saw the strongest demand for new staff, engineering and financial sectors also increased their workforce.
Donald MacRae, chief economist at Bank of Scotland, said: "The number of people placed in to permanent positions increased for the seventh consecutive month, while demand for permanent staff rose markedly in April, with recruitment consultants registering a larger number of vacancies.
"All eight employment sectors registered greater demand for permanent staff in April."
The latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation report also indicated a growth in the jobs market in April, in particular permanent positions.
