Early findings, seen by Personnel Today, from the 2011 XpertHR stress management survey have shown that over half of employers taking measures to reduce stress among those in IT jobs and other roles.
The survey revealed that 52.2 per cent of all 205 organisations taking part said they were taking action to deal with stress within the workplace. The measures have been undertaken by employers primarily to promote employee health and wellbeing.
This is as opposed to general compliance with health and safety regulations although just one employer in four has actually conducted research into stress causers in their firms.
Only a quarter of employers have set about providing any training of relevance to stress and stress management within the past 12 months. Measures taken up by companies include flexible working and initiatives to manage stress-related absences.
The findings were released on 2nd November to coincide with National Stress Awareness Day.
